BITHAM Brook Primary School has had a lot to celebrate this year, with pupils performing at various events in the community, the success of their after-school clubs, and the completion of their school extension.
A spokesperson for the school says, “Our pupils have been active in the community, performing at All Saints’ Church for the Rotary and Lions concerts, at the opening of the Christmas Tree Festival where Bitham Brook’s tree won with the most votes, and at the local Watersmead care home.
“Our after-school clubs have flourished with the help of the new facilities provided by our fantastic school extension that was completed in 2022. Following our vision of ‘providing opportunities for every child to discover their unique talents’, we are now able to provide a wonderful variety of opportunity to children with 270 club spaces every week! Cookery, dance, art, craft and calligraphy being amongst our most popular. We look forward to introducing our new knitting, fencing and journalism clubs in the new year.
“On the sporting front we have held a number of in-school football and netball tournaments to give the children the opportunity to put the skills they have been learning in their PE lessons into practice. Our Year 6 football team also competed at the West Wiltshire large schools football tournament doing Bitham Brook proud.
“Our numbers are continuing to increase, and we now have over 390 children on roll. This looks set to continue as the nearby housing developments come to completion. ‘In a community of kindness where all belong’ is the opening line of our values statement and it sums up this year so far.
“The sense of everyone caring for one another and being part of the team has pervaded our school community at every level; our beautiful Christmas performances epitomised this! The confidence of the children to perform as one, the commitment of the staff to bring out the best out in the children, and the encouragement from parents and carers, was a joy to see.
“It’s a special thing to be part of a school community that is focused on putting children front and centre in all that we do.”
