WESTBURY Leigh Primary School’s year 5 students embraced their Anglo-Saxon topic on Tuesday 8th September.
Both students and staff dressed up in period clothing, whilst observing the weaponry they typically used during this time.
The teachers arranged for James Waylander, a freelance historian employed by Wiltshire Library Services, to come in and act out momentous points in Anglo-Saxon history with the children.
Sophie and Harley, both aged 9 said, “The best bit was going onto the field to learn battle tactics with shields and spears. It was a great launch into our topic. We had an amazing experience.”
