Matravers welcomed author Steve Voake to the school on Tuesday 17th March.
He visited to give the students a very special lunchtime talk about his books and how he became a writer. Steve talked to a group of students from Years 7, 8 and 9 about the various books he has written including ‘Blood Hunter’ and ‘The Starlight Conspiracy’. He also told the students about how he gets inspiration for his books and where his ideas come from.
The students all really enjoyed the visit commenting that it was – “interesting” and “engaging”. Lots of the students also said that they were inspired to be writers. In the afternoon Steve did a creative writing workshop with the students from Years 12 and 13. This offered a great opportunity to help some budding writers who are currently working on their creative writing coursework.
Steve did a variety of creative tasks with them and the students got the chance to do some writing and share their work. This was indeed a tremendous opportunity for these students, who all found it an illuminating and inspiring experience.
