A Church Fete in Bratton raised approximately £2,500, with all proceeds from the event going to funds for St James’ Church.
Quiz show star Daphne Fowler opened the fete at the Church Institute on Saturday 28th June. The former ‘Brain of Britain’ winner and ‘Eggheads’ personality was a big draw for local people. Organiser Rosemary Osborne said, “Lots of people who came wanted to see Daphne.
“Overall I am extremely pleased with how the day went. It was a happy day with lots of people supporting the event.”
Also featured at the fete were the Bratton Silver Band, Bratton School country dance team, and various stalls selling bric-a-brac, books, jewellery and produce from the Women’s Institute, as well as a grand draw.
Rosemary added, “The forecast wasn’t good but the Lord was looking down on us weather-wise and there was no rain for most of the event.
“The money will be for general repairments and upkeep of the church including mending the roof as it is a very old building.
“We want to thank everyone who came out and supported the event, it was wonderful to see so many people. All the staff worked incredibly hard and we are really grateful to everyone.”
