Westbury Junior School has recently been going ‘bonkers for breakfast’.
As part of National Breakfast Week, 25th – 29th January, pupils spent the week eating healthy breakfast as part of the ‘Shake Up Your Wake Up’ campaign. Each year group in the school had the chance to make and eat a healthy breakfast together. The children have loved making overnight oats, beans on toast, scrambled eggs and smoothies. They have learnt how easy it is to make a healthy and nutritious breakfast.
There has also been a competition to design a dream breakfast and the lucky winners will actually be able to make and eat this meal with a friend.
Organiser and teacher, Yvonne Small said, “Breakfast is such a crucial start to the child’s day and we have tried to show the children the benefits of a healthy breakfast by making one together. It has a real effect on how children learn and really is the most important meal of the day!”
