A new illustrated fantasy story for children, ‘Tom’s Seaside Holiday’, is ready for publication by local author, Rosie Evitt – but missing a front cover!
Rosie explained, “A competition for primary age children is open now! We are asking for colourful beach drawings – absolutely anything is fine. It can be postcard perfect, unusual, offbeat, wacky or just plain weird – as long as the picture is on a beach. So why not start working on your entry now?
“The winning drawing will be used for the front cover of the book, with an acknowledgment inside the cover page with the child’s name and age, plus a list of four runners-up.
Synopsis of ‘Tom’s
Seaside Holiday’
Tom is a lad aged 8½. He is on holiday at the seaside staying with his favourite auntie. He spends his afternoons on the beach poking around rockpools, swimming and having fun – but wait and see what happens when his exciting Big Adventure starts and he finds more than you could ever imagine! You will just have to read the book to know more!
How to enter
Entries must have your child’s name and age on the reverse side of the drawing, plus contact details. Put the drawing in an envelope, mark it ‘Competition’ and pop it in the Laverton’s letterbox – or send it to The Town Clerk, Westbury Town Council, The Laverton, Westbury BA13 3EN.
Judging will be on 30th July and results published in the White Horse News on 6th August.
