Babies, pre-school children and their families and carers celebrated the 34th anniversary of the toddler group at All Saints’ Church at the start of the month.
The group, First Steps to Worship, was initially set up by the curate at the time, Rev Dorothy Bellamy, who had noticed the need for a group to combat the loneliness of parents at home with their children, and First Steps has been running ever since.
Leader of the group, Sharon Jones, says that families have “great affection” for First Steps.
“This is demonstrated when people who brought their children return with their grandchildren later on,” she explained. “I would like to thank Jean and Peter Jane for their continued support with refreshments and music.”
First Steps, located at All Saints’ Church, takes place at 9.30am every Wednesday in term time for babies, pre-school children and their families/carers. A short Bible story is read out which is then followed by singing and refreshments
