A COMMUNITY Plan for the BA13+ Community Area has been published, setting out the key issues, aspirations, and priorities for the area.
The BA13+ Partnership Westbury Area Community Plan has been created to help groups, service providers, the Westbury Area Board, and Wiltshire Council to tailor their services more specifically to Westbury and the surrounding villages’ needs. It also provides a guide for community groups and individuals who want to contribute to the community.
The plan covers arts, culture, and leisure; children and young people; community safety; economy, jobs, and skills; environment; health and wellbeing; housing; and transport.
Key issues mentioned in the plan include exploring what is needed from a campus development, promoting community spirit, and improving infrastructure around the town and villages.
The Community Plan is being distributed with this issue of the White Horse News, and is also available from the library, Westbury Visitor Centre, and the town council offices at the Laverton.
Earlier this year, around 100 people from across the community came together at a ‘Westbury Forward’ event, where ideas for the community plan were put forward.
Jonathan Burke of the BA13+ Community Partnership said, “This is a plan that’s come from local people. One of the most important things was the Westbury Forward event in the Laverton earlier this year. The plan has been out for consultation and has now reached a form where it’s being circulated.
“It’s about trying to improve the life in the community for as many people as possible, and building on what we’ve got.”
