WESTBURY furniture designer, Dan Gmaj, has built this custom made hedgehog house and will give it away to the supplier of the best photograph of a legal protest display in objection to the proposed NRL / Hills Incinerator plant in Westbury.
Dan, who has been manufacturing both wide ranging furniture projects and ‘Durapin Skittles’ in Westbury for 20 years said. “I have been lucky enough to have many spiky visitors in my garden over the years. But hedgehog numbers are dwindling and projects such as the proposed incinerator potentially pose a future threat to wildlife, as well as human health.
“Sporting its very own protest sticker, this hedgehog home is made to high standards and will be happy covered up in a wilder corner of any garden.
“Think of it as a gesture of welcome to all wildlife somewhere near your shed perhaps,” says Dan who, as founder of Westbury Community Shed, knows a thing or two about shed community!
“Encouraging wildlife by having a wild corner in your garden is not only great for animals, but also gives you a great place for composting / bug hotels and even bees if you have enough space. Other wildlife will move in sooner that you might think too, what’s not to love about that?”
Send your incinerator protest display photos to: westburygag@gmail.com and their community Facebook group will decide the winner from a top five selected by Dan.
