The local charity Crosspoint is looking for new volunteers.
Via its drop-in Welcome Centre in the Market Place, it offers a counselling service, debt advice and more to local people who need help and support. And due to an increase in people using its services, more volunteers are needed.
Chair of Crosspoint, Kevin Fairman, said, “In the last couple of years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of people coming into our Welcome Centre, due to the range of issues facing people and their families.
“Earlier in 2024, we were able to make over 40 direct payments to local people and their families to provide help with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
“Crosspoint also offers an affordable counselling service for residents of BA13 and our counsellors are now supporting more people than at any other time.
“As part of our succession planning process, we will be looking to recruit a treasurer and company secretary to join our trustee board in autumn of this year. Please note that these are voluntary roles with the charity.
“It is rewarding and interesting work to shape the services available to people in the local community. If you would like to find out more about these opportunities with a growing local charity, then email info@crosspoint-westbury.co.uk or phone 01373 824330 and leave a message with your name and contact details.
“Depending on personal circumstances, all trustees work as volunteers within the Welcome Centre, to stay close to the issues being faced and to build rapport with the clients.”
