THE Dilton Marsh flower and handicraft show was held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 15th August.
The organisers report, “It was the first event in the hall since lockdown and, due to Covid-19 restrictions, there were various changes. We had to ensure that social distancing took place and there were not too many people in the hall at any one time. Villagers were very understanding if they had to wait. Everyone had to sign in and hand sanitize.
“We were unable to offer refreshments, hold a prize giving or conclude with the auction of exhibits donated by entrants. Visitors were welcome in the afternoon.
“Considering what a difficult year 2020 has been the committee was pleased with the number of entries. We changed the layout of the tables which seemed popular. The judges were pleased to attend. One told us that she usually attends 17 shows each year, but ours was the only one that took place this year. The cup winners were as follows:
• The John Irving Cup for the most points gained in the fruit and vegetable classes was won by Chris Good.
• The Meade Nursery Cup for flowers and floral art was won by Pam Good and Jenny Denton.
• The Joan Bracken Cup for cookery was won by Sara Honor.
• The Iris Hares Cup for crafts was won by Helen Slay.
• The Dilton Photography Cup was won by Martin Honor.
• The WI Challenge Plate for the group display was won by Jette, Eunice and Maureen.
• The Dilton Amateur Gardening Cup for the most points overall was won by Chris Good
• The children’s prizes were won by Rawson, Orla and Rex.”
