THE Dilton Marsh playing field project has been shortlisted in Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative and needs your vote to secure a grant.
The project has already been awarded £8,000 but could see the grant increase to £10,000 or £12,000 with the help of a public vote.
Rebecca Durham, a member of RAPID, a community group trying to improve the playing field said, “Having lived with an unimaginative, unsafe and underused play area for too many years, we have come together as a community to offer our help to the Parish Council to update it.
“Earlier this year we conducted a community consultation exercise and heard the views of a wide cross section of the village’s residents – improved seating on the village playing field was the one of the community’s top priorities. So this #BagsofHelp money will be spent on high quality benches and accessible picnic benches along with the provision of some shade and a new gate at the entrance to the playing field.
“Importantly these will be used by the whole cross-section of residents encouraging greater community integration in this shared space.
“If we are lucky enough to achieve £10,000 or £12,000 through the in store voting then the additional money we will be used to buy some play and recreation equipment too, perhaps creating a trim trail!
“Please vote in local Tesco stores between 26th September – 9th October 2016 to help us secure the top Tesco #BagsofHelp grant.”
