Members enjoyed social time during a fish and chip supper which was followed by an update by president Alison Irving on forthcoming events which included a village day, the Queen’s birthday celebrations, a garden party, a flower and handicraft show and the Sutton Veny Show.
Also being the Annual resolution meeting, a talk was given on both food waste and dementia care in hospitals. The result was that the following resolution was given 100% backing by members to go to the WI delegate to take forward to the Annual General Meeting: “We call upon HM Government and the NHS to provide facilities to enable carers to stay with people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia that have been admitted into hospital.”
To end the meeting members’ poems relating to springtime were read and enjoyed. Next month’s meeting is a talk on Scrapstore by Margaret Hiscock. Thursday June 9 at 7.30pm. Come along you will receive a big welcome.
