ONCE again the annual Flower and Handicraft Show held in Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall on the 20th July was a resounding success with more entries than ever before.
There were outstanding displays of flowers and handicraft goods, stunning photographs and mouth- watering vegetables and cookery items. The sun shone through the windows enhancing the enjoyment of people viewing the displays before an auction of produce was held.
Exceptional talent this year was shown by the junior entrants who deserve a special accolade, Jasmine Murphy, Alexander Naulls, Jay Pennells and Lydia Turner, ‘well done’, to them.
The successful adult entrants were, Brian Fitzsimons, Rosie Ball, Pam Jones, Bob Lee, Liz Lee, Mrs Metcalfe, Jenny Denton, Pat Nowell, Chris Good, Pam Good, Eunice Stride, Hilda Watts, Elspeth Landers, Priscilla Gray, Sophie O’Neill, Rebecca Mack, Paula Carr, Creina Adkins, Heather Burton, Richard Burton, Ruth Seelig, Dot Eddolls, Norma Hutton, Lynn Lewin, Dilton Marsh WI and Dilton Marsh Craft Group.
The Dilton Marsh Challenge Plate awarded for the best group entry was won by Dilton Marsh Day Centre. The Joan Bracken Cup awarded for the most points in the cookery classes was won by Maureen Flynn. The Iris Hares Cup awarded for the most points gained in the handicraft and photography classes was won by Helen Jones.
The John Irving Cup for fruit and vegetable classes, Meade Nursery Cup for flower and floral art classes and the Dilton Marsh Amateur Gardening Club Cup for the most points gained overall were awarded to Gill Addison. Following the prizegiving chairman Chris Good held an auction of produce which proved to be exceptionally popular.
