The 28th September was European Day of Languages – event that Westbury Junior School always enjoys celebrating. However, this year was extra special because the whole school focused on Japan.
There was a huge variety of activities taking place throughout the year groups with some highlights including learning to say some basic phrases in Japanese, noodle tasting, designing robots, taking part in a traditional tea ceremony and a whole range of art work.
Teacher, Hannah Duffy said, “It’s so important for children to learn about different countries and their cultures.”
Each year group will select some pieces of art to be displayed at Matravers as part of the ‘Around the World’ project linked to the Westbury Arts Festival, which parents and children are invited to attend.
