Fairfield Farm College in Dilton Marsh, a specialist college for young people with learning disabilities, took part in the South England Panathlon Championship final on Thursday 7th March – and came away with a range of medals including team silver.
14 students from the college had an early start and travelled to Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the competition against other SEN schools in the South of England.
They took part in a variety of sports and achieved the following, boccia (gold), new age kurling (bronze), table cricket (bronze), wheelchair slalom (gold), precision beanbag (silver), turbo javelin (gold) and standing long jump (gold).
At the end of the competition Fairfield Farm College was joint first, but after a ‘count back’ they were awarded Silver.
“The students all showed great team spirit and excellent sporting behaviour towards others,” said Debbie Hughes from the college. “A great day to be cherished and remembered by all. What a fantastic achievement and well done to all the students that took part.”
