WESTBURY Police is welcoming its new Community Beat Manager this week.
PC Gavin Hucks replaces Jo Philpott, who has moved on to pastures new as an acting sergeant. Having previously been stationed in Warminster, a role which included patrols in Westbury, he says he is glad to return to the area.
PC Hucks said, “It is with delight that I have been given the opportunity to cater for the needs of the community, and although I bring my policing experience from a response role in Salisbury, Westbury is where it all began for me.
“I was stationed at Warminster on response from 2009 to 2011 and Westbury fell under this area, so I tended to patrol Westbury day and night, as well as the surrounding towns and villages. I got to meet many of the community throughout this role, hence my excitement in returning to work on a more community-based ethos.
“I have fond memories of Westbury, and my knowledge and experience of this town has never left me. I hope to see some familiar faces upon my return.
“On occasions I get the question ‘why did I choose to become a police officer’? Well, there is no simple answer, rather a culmination of events that have shaped my life. But what drives me is pure passion. Passion to help and work with a community and focus on the issues we face on a daily basis, by supporting, assisting and ensuring that those that disrupt other lives are brought to account.
“I look forward to meeting you all at some point.”
