A TEAM of firefighters from Westbury Fire Station has completed the Dorset Mud Run to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The team of 11 battled a 6km course, 15 obstacles, driving rain and, of course, lots of mud to complete the challenge.
“We had a great day with only minor injuries,” said Ross Frampton, one of the firefighters.
“It was pretty tough, but we worked as a team and completed every obstacle over 6km in driving rain, lots of deep water and mud, all in just under two hours.
“We are continuing to collect for another month; at the moment our total is heading for £600 for the Fire Fighters Charity. The charity helps firefighters who have retired through injury and families of deceased firefighters, killed or injured on the front line. It also does amazing things for service personnel and their families throughout the country.
“If you want to donate, you can go onto Westbury Fire Station’s Facebook page and donate via the link; every donation counts and is appreciated, no matter how small!” added Ross.
The team was made up of watch manager Pete Eastland; crew managers Ollie Rush and Nathan Collins; firefighters Justin Barrett, Chris Charlton and his wife Mel, Ross Frampton and his daughter Poppy, and Alistair Young; Daisy McFerren and Eve Riskhuss.
• Westbury Fire Station is currently recruiting for on-call firefighters. “Drill night is at Westbury Fire Station in Meadow Lane every Monday; please come down and have a chat,” said Ross.
