Westbury Lions Club are paying for Westbury families to enjoy a free trip to the seaside in partnership with the Hearts of Wessex Rail. The gesture follows on from the success of last year’s event.
Families will board the Weymouth Wizard, a special day trip train service from Swindon to Weymouth and back, which runs every Saturday throughout the summer.
Also, like last year, the children will be given a free fun fact pamphlet including information about the journey.
First Great Western teams up with the Heart of Wessex Community Rail Partnership to promote rail travel on this stunning branch line which skirts around the edge of the Mendip Hills before arriving in the Yeovil scarplands.
From here, the train runs across the Dorset Downs to arrive in Weymouth. With stunning sandy beaches and a fine array of places to eat and drink, Weymouth is a popular beach destination for families.
The train will be leaving Westbury at 10.00am on Saturday 8th July. The return train leaves Weymouth at 5.28pm, arriving back in Westbury at 7.15pm. Passengers must report to the Lions team at the station by 9.45am to be checked aboard the reserved carriage. You must travel on the booked train as your tickets will not be valid on any other service.
