A NEW group, Friends United Westbury, has been set up for people to make new friends and become part of a wider community.
The group meets at the Leigh Park Community Centre on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm and it costs £4 to attend. An activity and refreshments are provided at each session. No need to book, simply turn up. For more information visit the LPCC, call 01373 825774, or email office@LPCCWestbury.org.uk
The organisers say, “Taking part in activities can support you in keeping your mind sharp, your body strong and spirits high. There’s plenty of activities to enjoy, from playing games, spending time in our community garden, socialising with others or taking part in a craft activity.
“Getting involved with like-minded people can greatly benefit your well-being and help to reduce your risk of loneliness. Loneliness is a medical condition that affects many older people. Some older people can lose touch with friends and family or be stuck indoors due to mobility issues. Joining in club activities whilst interacting with other people can help combat loneliness in a very positive way, by connecting with other people and enjoying yourself at the same time.”
