At the start of April, the congregation at Yarnbrook Chapel marked the Golden Wedding of Paul and Mary Rossiter who have for many years lived in the area and are members at the chapel. They were presented with flowers, a plate and card.
“Easter services at Yarnbrook Chapel were different this year,” explained a member of the Chapel. “For the first time in many years on Good Friday there was an afternoon meeting, when those present were reminded of the death of The Lord Jesus Christ and what that means for us today. Tea followed.
“On Easter Sunday, for the first time in the history of the chapel at Yarnbrook, a service of Believer’s baptism took place. One lady was baptised by full immersion. The Pastor of the chapel, Andrew Jones spoke at the service and baptised the lady in a portable pool of water in the chapel.
“Following the celebration of Easter, the next event in our Church calendar will be Ascension Day on Thursday 30th May. Those who are older may remember the days when the local schoolchildren were, after attending a church service, given the day off. The fact that the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ is as important at the death and resurrection, is often overlooked .
“We welcome all who can come to our Ascension Day meeting, at Yarnbrook Chapel at 7pm, the speaker will be Jim Short of Frome.”
