MEMBERS of Westbury Golf Club have raised nearly £800 for charity.
Last month, Westbury Golf Club Seniors’ Day raised £505 for Cancer Research UK, captain George Henderson’s chosen charity for the 2016 season. George chose the charity because a few members are currently going through cancer treatment.
George presented a cheque to Sheila Carruthers, the chair of the local Cancer Research UK fundraising committee.
George said, “Thank you to Westbury Golf Club Seniors Committee who have provided great support in raising the money through out the year.
“Thanks must also go to the White Horse Country Park for the support they have also given to the Westbury Golf Club Seniors Section and this cause.”
Members also participated in a charity fund raiser in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal last month.
40 members played a Mixed Texas Scramble game over 18 holes and £281 was raised from the day. The winning team with a score of 61.5 were presented with their Poppy Gold Medals by Doug Lane, competitions secretary at the club.
