WESTBURY Rugby Club is looking to raise £46,500 this summer to replace its changing rooms and is hoping local people and businesses will support the fundraiser.
The money is needed to replace the existing mobile units with one purpose-built changing facility, to include two changing rooms with three showers and one toilet each, and an officials’ changing area with shower and toilet.
Committee member Carrie Needham said, “Currently we only have three showers between both teams, so there is quite a friendly queue for the showers after games.
“The roofing and units were also damaged by heavy storms during the winter and are now unusable. We hope the new facilities will encourage opposition teams to stay and socialise after matches, and encourage the local community to use our facilities more.”
If the club, which plays at Knott Field in the White Horse Country Park, cannot raise enough money to replace the changing rooms, it may have to play all games away next season.
Carrie continued, “The changing rooms would make all the difference to the club and local community. Westbury RFC has a thriving junior section, two senior men’s teams and is home to one of only three ladies’ teams in the county.”
The club is appealing to local people to help with the fundraiser, and would like to hear from businesses interested in sponsoring the new changing rooms.
A sponsor’s block costs £600 inc. VAT and includes your company name on the changing room, and entry into a draw to win two international match tickets, to be drawn at the first sponsor lunch of next season.
