IMPERIAL Charity recently donated £2,000 to Silverwood School in Rowde to help fund their annual activities week.
Silverwood is a co-educational school for children and young people aged 4-19 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Wiltshire.
Steve Pope, Imperial’s business and charity manager, said, “Silverwood is one of a number of SEND schools across Wiltshire that Imperial Charity is delighted to support through the provision of grants for activities or facilities that are beyond the budgets available to these schools.
“The activities week is an opportunity for pupils to take part in a range of enriching activities that would be outside of the scope of the normal school budget. They are finding it more and more difficult for families to donate any money for these activities, more so in the current economic climate.
“This year, activities are planned for over 200 pupils including Zoolab where small animals, giant insects and other interesting creatures are brought to school for pupils to handle and an archery activity for all pupils to enjoy.
“Shopping in our High Street or Warminster Road shops in Westbury helps us raise funding for the causes we support, whether it be grants to SEND schools, coach trips for senior citizens and those with special needs, or the provision of entertainers to care homes across our county.
“We always have a wide range of pre-loved clothing, bric-a-brac, furniture and white goods and strive to offer value for money. Please drop in to see us.”
Volunteers needed
Steve is also seeking local people with a few hours to spare each week who could volunteer in the High Street shop.
He said, “We are always looking for volunteers to help in our High Street clothing and bric-a-brac shop. Whether it’s a morning, afternoon, full day or a couple of shifts a week, your help would make a huge difference to us and the causes we support.
“We are a friendly bunch and the work is interesting and varied, whether it is working in the shop, or behind the scenes helping to sort donations. Please call 01373 822207 if you can help, or pop in to see us.”
