OCTOBER saw the last of the monthly coach trips for this year, organised by Imperial Charity.
The trip was to Cardiff and like the previous six trips it was almost fully booked. Business manager Bob Summerfield said, “It was very gratifying to see three full coaches each month leave for various destinations. This meant on average 145 senior citizens and people of all ages with extra needs and their carers enjoy a day out, predominantly to a coastal resort, subsidised by the charity in what was generally very good weather.”
Bob said he was confident that the trustees would approve a further season of trips starting in April next year. “The charity is extremely grateful to Real Coaches of Codford for providing the coaches each month and organising the collection of passengers from various locations with reassuring dependability.
“After the uncertainty of the lockdown as a result of Covid, the trustees are delighted to be able to say that through dint of hard work by staff and volunteers, and by the invaluable support of all customers using their shops, that the charity has returned to a solid footing and barring unforeseen circumstances, will be able to continue its charitable activities far into the future. This of course means continuing coach trips, grants to special needs schools and the organising and paying for entertainment in care and nursing homes throughout Wiltshire.”
Bob added, “Like all charities, we are struggling for volunteers. If anyone has a few hours to spare, they will be made very welcome in our high street shop, where they will be part of a very happy team.”
