LOCAL business White Horse CAD have teamed up with Westbury Town Council to help inspire young people to design and build their own soapbox ahead of the 2023 Soapbox Derby.
Using the latest Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, the mechanical engineering company have created model soapbox carts.
Large scale drawings of the models are being used at workshops to help the students outline their plans and understand the professional process of developing a concept on paper through to construction of the soapbox. The students, including those from Westbury and Warminster Youth Clubs, can then put their entry to the test by completing the Soapbox Derby on Saturday 20th May 2023.
White Horse CAD managing director, Tim Bird, said, “The iconic setting and the variety of soapbox entries and stalls made for a great atmosphere at last year’s event. We are delighted to support the workshops and share our knowledge of CAD. The soapbox cart is a fun project and we hope it will help to enthuse the younger generation about engineering and design.”
