Westbury hopes to bring a carnival back to the town – but needs more volunteers to help make the dream a reality.
Stephen Miles brought his vision of a carnival for the town forward in May, and has since formed a committee to plan the event. However, the committee needs more people to get involved and help in whatever way they can.
Stephen said, “We really need a pool of people so that we can spread the load. Come along and see us and don’t be worried you’ll be overloaded, you can come along and do what you can in your own time. If we don’t get people along, we’re in difficulties.
“I know by talking to people that they want a carnival in Westbury.”
Stephen added that volunteers would not have to be involved in everything or come to all committee meetings, just help out in whatever way they can.
Stephen envisions the carnival as something that would be a great boost for the town saying, “I think a carnival in Westbury would help lift the profile of the town and give people a big entertainment event to look forward to and take part in.
“It will also be a means of helping to increase charity giving.”
Trowbridge Carnival has now moved from its date in early September to October and Stephen Miles believes that Westbury should take the September slot next year.

Carnival route proposed
The Carnival committee has put together a route to take the procession through the town.
The proposed route would have participants gathering near the Co-op roundabout, before making their way through West End, up Haynes Road, along Warminster Road and back down Eden Vale.
The route has been approved by the local police. It now needs to be approved by the inspector for the area and the town council before it can be confirmed.
