A CHARITY Dinner and Auction, hosted by Westbury’s Mayor, cllr David Windess, has raised around £1,500 for charity.
The event was one of the fundraisers that cllr Windess is hosting to raise money for his “Mayor’s Charity” in his term as mayor. The two charities benefiting from his efforts are Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Diabetes UK.
The event was held at the Laverton on Friday 2nd September and was attended by 84 guests who enjoyed a meal, raffle, auction, entertainment, and also heard from speakers from the two charities, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Diabetes UK. The auctioneer for the evening was Westbury Town Crier, Sean Price.
Cllr Windess said, “It was an absolutely fantastic evening, thank you to all the businesses who donated and to the people who came and supported the event.
“With the two charities, I chose Wiltshire Air Ambulance because it’s an invaluable service, we hope we never need them but they are there in case we do. With Diabetes UK, I chose them because I am diabetic myself.”
