A KEY set of national tests for 11 year olds has put Dilton Marsh Primary School in the top 25 schools in the county, with several other schools in the Westbury area above the national average.
The data, which was published in December, shows the results of this year’s key stage 2 tests (in English, reading, writing and maths), which were taken in May by 11-year -olds across the country.
Nationally, 74% of pupils achieved level 4 or above in the 2011 key stage 2 tests, with the Wiltshire average at 75%. In the Westbury area, Dilton Marsh performed the best with 92% of pupils achieving level 4 or above in both English and maths in the tests. This figure is up from 88% in 2010, and puts it in the top 25 schools (out of 238) in the county. The performance tables also show that 100% of pupils at the school were making expected progress in both English and maths.
Headteacher Judith Finney said, “We are delighted with all the results, and that all the hard work of staff and pupils – with great support from parents – has paid off. It’s only part of what we do, as we have a very creative curriculum that enhances the children’s learning and gives a real context to their academic work.”
Bitham Brook Primary also scored comfortably above the national average with 84% achieving level 4 in the tests, the same figure as last year. Westbury Leigh Primary School also scored well with 79%, up from 75% last year. Bratton Primary School scored 72% this year. Westbury Junior School and Chapmanslade Primary Schools both achieved 62% of pupils achieving level 4 or above in the tests.
