AN AUCTION of Promises, hosted by the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Westbury, has raised over £2,000 for local charities and good causes. The auction, held at the Laverton on Saturday 25th February, had some 40 promises offered up by both members of the club and local businesses. There was also a light supper on the evening.Sheila Carruthers of the Inner Wheel said, “It was a very successful evening, enjoyed by all. “Sean [Price], our auctioneer, was really good; he is very skilled and brought a bit of humour into the evening and made people give a bit more money!“Promises were things like a return trip to Bristol airport for anyone who is flying out from there, there was a week’s ironing for a family, a celebration cake, and someone offered to do some decorating. “The charities the proceeds go towards are yet to be decided – the Inner Wheel and Rotary each have £1,000 to distribute and we’ll be meeting to decide which charities to support. But they will be local ones.”Pictured: Auctioneer Sean Price keeps the money rolling in.
