TICKETS are now on sale for this year’s Westbury Music and Arts Festival.
With just two weeks to go before the festival kicks off on 16th September, now is the time to start browsing the programme and snap up tickets for this year’s exciting events.
The 2011 festival has seen even more events added to the varied programme. The festival starts with a weekend of folk music and dancing, and continues to offer classical performances from renowned artists and toe-tapping jazz from returning favourites throughout the festival.
Folk favourites include Finnegans Wake and Guidewires; returning jazz joys include Opus One swing band and Lee Ingram; while classical catches include guitarist David Caswell, Welsh College students Reisha Adams and David Doidge, and mezzo soprano Nina Alupii Morton and pianist Maria Angel.
Art exhibitions and workshops continue to be one of the strengths of the festival, with plenty of work on display and a chance to improve your own artistic skills. Events include a Gambia exhibition, printmaking exhibition, life drawing class, and the Big Draw.
Other events throughout the festival include markets, workshops and readings at the library, poetry in the garden, and much much more!
Roy Inwood, chair of the Westbury Music and Arts Festival committee said, “We’ve worked hard to put a programme together that really has something for everyone! We’ve also been careful to keep the tickets at very modest prices to make sure events are accessible. Some events are free, unticketed and you can just turn up. Ticket prices for other events start at just £4, while the average price of tickets is around the £7 mark. We’d encourage people to get buying their tickets now to ensure they don’t miss out!”
For a programme of events visit the website at www.wmafestival.co.uk. Tickets are on sale from Town and Country in the High Street on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10.00am-2.30pm.
For those who cannot make it to the ticket office, tickets can be purchased by sending a stamped addressed envelope to WMAF, 10 Meadow Way, Westbury, BA13 3AE, along with a cheque for the quantity of tickets required, made payable to Westbury Music and Arts Festival (please also write the name of event and quantity of tickets on the back of the cheque). Where available, tickets will also be sold on the door.
