A JUBILEE tree has been planted at Westbury Court Care Home in Station Road, while tea, cake, and music was also enjoyed at their open day recently.
The ornamental cherry tree was donated by local funeral directors C.S.Bowyer to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. The afternoon raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, and live music from Chris Stone, who is already a dedicated fundraiser for the charity, brought many old favourites for residents and visitors to enjoy.
A raffle on the day raised funds for the residents’ society fund, while visitors had the chance to look around the state-of-the-art care home, which includes a dedicated dementia unit. The 60-bed care home has a variety of ensuite room sizes, lounges, a dining room, an activity room and a secure garden, and it welcomed its first residents earlier this year.
Christine Bassett, home manager said, “We had 150 people attend on the day, and it was a great success. I would like to thank all the town shops for our raffle which raised £141 to go towards residents’ funds, and £90 was raised for our chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
“Our home is a modern, purpose-built care home with excellent up-to-date facilities. We offer a warm and welcoming environment where residents can feel at home in comfortable surroundings.
“We provide an excellent standard of care including general nursing and residential care and specialised nursing and residential care for people with dementia. We also provide respite care to give home carers a much needed break.
“Our person-centred approach means that each resident is an individual, treated with respect and dignity. Each resident has a named key worker and an individual care plan. This will cover their personal and medical history, as well as a record of particular activities they enjoy and any cultural or religious aspects of their care.
“Our care home is set in well kept landscaped gardens and there are enclosed gardens with a patio area where residents can sit out enjoying the fresh air. We also have a sensory garden that residents can enjoy spending time in. The home has bright, spacious, main lounges and dining areas that overlook the garden. The accommodation provides residents with a choice of environments in which to relax or meet friends and relatives.”
Westbury Court is operated by Four Seasons Health Care, an independent healthcare provider of nursing homes, care homes, and specialist units throughout the UK.
