THERE is plenty of cricket for kids to get stuck into this year at the Westbury and District Cricket Club and places are still available.
The club is once again running the junior cricket programme with the All Stars (aged 5 to 8) and the Dynamos (aged 8 to 11) teams.
A club spokesperson said, “All Stars cricket gives children from the ages of five to eight an opportunity to become a star. The curriculum of fun cricket activities and games provides your children with the basic movement skills to begin a lifelong love of our sport and general physical activity. Teaching your child all the fundamental skills they need to play through lively fun games, they will lean about cricket and be better prepared to take part in all sports.
“Over the eight-week programme the trained activators will teach your child to catch and throw a ball, hit a moving ball, bowl with a straight arm, play a basic game of cricket, work and communicate as a team and have lots of fun with new friends. Each participant receives a goody bag with all you need to play this summer.
“Dynamos cricket provides a fantastic next step for all those graduating from the All Stars cricket and the perfect introduction for all 8–11-year-olds new to the sport. Every child who registers will receive their very own Dynamos Cricket New Balance t-shirt personalised with their name and number.”
Training nights for juniors are 6pm to 7.30pm Friday nights starting Friday 21st April. Sign up by visiting allstarscricket.co .uk or dynamoscricket .co.uk
Disability cricket is also available at Leighton Recreation Centre, run by Wiltshire Cricket, and the club has two men’s teams and a ladies’ team.
