HERMIONE Cole, a 14-year-old from Westbury is undertaking a four-week expedition to Kenya in 2023 to work on variety of different community, wildlife and environmental projects.
The expedition includes work such as constructing school classrooms, supplying drinking water, wildlife conservation, tree-planting and teaching English to school children and Hermione is asking local companies for their support with sponsorship.
Hermione said, “I am looking forward to meeting the children, teaching them English and maybe even some dance moves! Plus helping to look after the animals they rely on for a living and how best to care for them. The challenge will mean no creature comforts and new foods to try! I will miss my family, but I know I will be making a positive difference for others and their future.
“The core objectives of this expedition are to undertake projects to raise the educational and living standards of developing communities within a rural district of Kenya and assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programs to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
“This expedition is extremely important to me because I feel that I will acquire and develop many important life skills such as independence and learning new skills such as a new language as well as plumbing and building!
“I would be extremely grateful for any contributions towards my fundraising and for any businesses sponsors, your company logo could be printed onto my t shirt.”
