A NEW dance evening is coming to Westbury to get your feet moving and hips shaking on a Saturday night.
Following on from the success of their Tuesday afternoon social tea dances, local couple Mike and Angela Dale are now embarking on a new challenge at Westbury Leigh Community Hall.
The Saturday night class will follow the same formula they’ve used before. Mike said, “We started the Tuesday afternoon social tea dances almost exactly one year ago and despite some early attendance concerns, we now have a very regular number of dancers, all of whom enjoy their social dancing afternoons.
“A number of our dancers have now asked us to consider running Saturday evening dances. We have looked at other local dances venues and dates and have been very careful to avoid, as far as possible, other dances which are taking place.
“The ‘formula’ we use will be very similar to the 50/50 ballroom/Latin and sequence dance mix we already use. However, it will of course, be dependent on what is required by the dancers, as we are fortunate to be able to respond to pretty much all requests.
“Another reason for running a Saturday evening dance is that there may well be dancers who work during the week and who would like to dance on a weekend, so we also look forward to welcoming new dancers to the hall.
“As always, singles and beginners alike will be very welcome. For those who have not danced on this floor before, it is wood, sprung and has under-floor heating – perfect for dancing. The venue has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, so it all adds up to an enjoyable evening’s dancing.”
There is plenty of free on-site parking as well as a free car park about 100 metres away. The dates for the rest of this year are: 26th September, 10th October and 5th December. The dances will run from 7.30pm to 10.00pm, with a short mid-evening break with home-made refreshments.
