THE collapse of Danish footballer Christian Eriksen at the European Championships has highlighted the importance of defibrillators at local football grounds.
Westbury United have recently upgraded their defibrillator equipment at their Meadow Lane ground with the help of local business.
“The club would like to thank EFA Training for their help with the purchasing and installation of their new de-fib alarmed cabinet,” said Terry Morgan. “Also Tim Bird of Whitehorse CAD, a true Westbury United FC fan, for donating the majority of the money for the cabinet. And not forgetting Philip Alford, another true lifelong fan of the club for donating the balance.”
“Also a thanks to the members of the Clean Up Gang – Keith Harvey, Geoff Steer, Pete Strickland, Paul Board, and me, Butch Morgan who again put in a good morning’s work nearly completing the laying of the base for our club announcer’s (Nick Pearce) new shelter, with Nick himself preparing some electrics for his shelter, Phil Alford our grass cutting master and our own Slim Jim Pike painting our new pitch access gates.
“Finally, I would like to thank all of the Westbury United FC supporters who booked their seats to watch England beat Germany in the 2020 Euros. We all had a great time in a fantastic atmosphere with the event being brilliantly organised by our club’s committee and Tammy Newbury of Tammy`s Cabin observing all current Covid-19 restrictions. I hope it’s coming home!”
