WITH the recent good news that Covid-19 vaccines will be rolled out for everyone, which will enable us to get back to a more normal way of life, one local company has been involved in making that dream a possibility.
Polar Truck and Van, based in Westbury, has been working around the clock to manufacture refrigerated vans to transport the urgently required vaccine to the vulnerable in England and beyond.
Managing director Jarvis Macdonald, well-known locally as a member of Westbury Lions said, “The workforce at Polar should be very proud of their achievements. We were given very tight deadlines to produce the vans and had to adhere to extremely high quality standards. The gang really came to the fore and performed well under pressure when the contract was pulled forward by a month so vaccines could be delivered in December 2020”.
Polar, who have been producing refrigerated vans in Westbury for over eight years and employ over 20 people and the services of many local companies, have worked without a break throughout the pandemic and were given key worker status to keep refrigerated van production rolling to enable super markets such as Morrison’s and Waitrose, and home delivery companies to feed the nation.
