DILTON Marsh couple Helen and Greg Bolwell and their owl Angel have had a busy summer fundraising for the RUH Forever Friends Appeal and various charities.
The couple have been actively fundraising for the RUH since 2008, in memory of their daughter Charlotte who died in 2006, aged 23.
Helen said, “When Charlotte died I didn’t leave the house for two years but then someone said that I needed to focus my attention on something else, like fundraising and that was that – I haven’t stopped since.”
Already this summer, the couple have collected money at Chandlers Travel’s open day, Westbury Village Pump Festival, Westbury’s Street Fayre and Forest Community Centre’s third anniversary family fun day in Melksham.
Helen said, “We never ask people how much to put in the bucket to have a picture with Angel – we prefer to let them decide how much they can afford, it’s not up to us to tell them.”
As well as the RUH, they have also supported Guide Dogs for the Blind, Freewheelers EVA Blood Bikes, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, Westbury Guides, Help for Heroes and many others.
Helen continued, “We have had a really busy few months and we are very grateful to all the donations we’ve received, we always say, ‘every little helps’- and it really does.”
With the help of their feathered friend Angel, Greg and Helen have raised over £10,000 for the Bath RUH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit but haven’t kept a tally of the other fundraising.
“We will to continue to fundraising for as long as we can because we really enjoy it.
