MEMBERS of a local Slimming World group have donated a whopping 78 bags of clothes that no longer fit them due to their impressive weight loss achievements.
The clothes have been donated to Cancer Research UK who could potentially raise over £2,000 when they are re-sold in their shops.
“Thanks to the wonderful generosity of Slimming World members in Leigh Park Community Centre, 78 bags were collected for Cancer Research UK on Monday 22nd April,” said consultant Kim Heath who runs the popular class. “Potentially £2,350 could be raised when the items members have shrunk out of are resold in Cancer Research shops.
“There’s not many of us that haven’t been touched by cancer, and the research done by Cancer Research UK will hopefully allow even more people we love to beat it. The group once again rallied round and filled up their bags. I’d like to thank all those that supported this valuable cause and loaded the van for me; I couldn’t have done it without you.
“In addition to the fabulous fund raising the group lost 131lb last week and so many achievements were celebrated: eight people lost half a stone, four lost one stone; one lost one and a half stone and one lost two stones plus a member achieved her Club 10 (lost 10% of her starting weight).
“If you would like to join me and the fabulously supportive Westbury group and achieve your own special award, pop along on a Monday at 4pm, 5.30pm or 7pm and let me and the group support you in making your dream come true.”
The group meets at Leigh Park Community Centre on Mondays at 4pm, 5.30pm or 7pm. For more information, call Kim on 07921 805006.
