The Mead Nursery (www.themeadnursery.co.uk) based in Brokerswood near Rudge, hosted their annual Charity Day on Sunday 26th April, and are thrilled to announce they raised an incredible £2,340 for the Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal.
Nursery owners, Emma and Steve Lewis-Dale, were delighted to have recently presented their cheque to Jo Common from the local charity.
The Nursery have been organising this annual charity day for the last 18 years, and each year choose a different charity to support. The team were absolutely thrilled to total up the amount raised this year and realise they had broken all their previous fundraising records.
Emma and Steve commented, “What a fantastic day we had in aid of RUH Forever Friends Appeal! Massive thanks to everyone who came on the day, customers and our tireless helpers and to those of you who couldn’t come but gave us a donation to put towards the total. The total raised was £2,340 which is the best we have ever raised on a Charity Day, so well done everyone!”
The day ran from 12.00noon to 5.00pm and included lots of lovely plants for sale, enticing guest stalls, a garden themed tombola, as well as teas and delicious homemade cakes.
All the funds raised have been allocated to The Forever Friends Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign – raising £8.5million towards the build of an exceptional new Cancer Centre for patients and their families at the Royal United Hospital.
Each year the RUH cares for 2,200 new patients with cancer from the hospital’s extensive catchment area. The clinical care is amongst the best in the UK, but the current cancer unit facilities are outdated and uncomfortable, and do not provide patients with the positive environment necessary to support the healing process. The hospital’s vision is to build a Cancer Centre which will balance clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
Corporate fundraiser for The Forever Friends Appeal, Jo Common comments, “What an incredible total to raise in just five hours! We are so pleased to have been chosen by The Mead Nursery as their beneficiary charity, as all the money they raised will help transform care for our patients with cancer and their families here at Bath’s RUH.
“We rely on the wonderful support we receive from organisations and individuals all across the RUH catchment area, so are truly grateful to the entire Mead Nursery team and everyone who donated so generously at their event – thank you!”
