AFTER nine successful months, The Westbury Men’s Group has come out of lockdown with more members than ever before.
Founded in November 2019, the informal gathering was moved online during lockdown, with members meeting via video link to chat, share their thoughts and enjoy a few laughs each Monday from 7pm.
The group report, “This week we were back out in the open, meeting up for a socially distanced bite to eat, provided for free by the brilliant Matty’s Burgers in Trowbridge. Also supporting the group is Westbury Town Council, which has just agreed to continue funding the meetups.”
Ryan Child, Westbury Town Council events manager said, “We’ve got a great set of guys that have become mates over the past 8 or 9 months. One of the member’s mums got in touch with Matty’s Burgers and they agreed to give us some of their delicious burgers for our first face-to-face meetup this week.
“The age range goes all the way from 16 – 76 years old, which makes for some pretty hilarious conversations and a real environment of inclusion. The group is based on trust and the mantra that ‘You can talk, listen or do neither, nobody will judge you either way’.”
There is a Westbury Men’s Group Facebook group that is open for anyone to join, with the location of the new social distanced meets shared each week.
