LOCAL MP Andrew Murrison, along with other Wiltshire MPs, has written to the local government minister Jacob Young to urge for the devolution of powers to Wiltshire Council.
Devolution involves the transfer of power by government to local authorities such as Wiltshire Council.
Andrew Murrison said, “Wiltshire Council has proved its worth and, unlike other comparable authorities, has remained solvent. It is well placed to take on extra powers that will help local transport and further education in support of the skills agenda. If we do not do this, there is a risk that other authority areas will gain a competitive edge.”
