“The Usual Suspects” will perform a concert on Saturday 20th October to raise funds for the project to bring mains water to St James’ Church in Bratton.
The afternoon will start at 2.30pm in the Church Institute in Bratton.
“Music on Tap” will feature a mix of folk, sacred and fun songs, accompanied by Debby Bailey, and a scrumptious cream tea, all for £3, plus retiring collection.
Organisers said, “St James’ Church has never had the benefit of mains water, and therefore has no kitchen or toilet. The first phase of the project will provide the water supply, and is expected to cost between £18,000 and £20,000. Work is due to start in the New Year.
“So far, the project has raised over £13,500 from a most generous legacy, grants from the Friends of St James’ and the Wiltshire Historic Churches trust, as well as several fundraising events and individual donations. Once the first phase is completed, fundraising will continue to provide a toilet.
“The legacy to get the project off the ground was from the late Susan Wieck and “The Usual Suspects” include her husband Malcolm and their children Robert and Rachel.”
