ROLLOUT of the Covid-19 vaccine began in Westbury before Christmas, with vulnerable residents and aged over 80 first in line to be immunised.
Staff from the White Horse Health Centre administered nearly 1,000 Covid-19 vaccines over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of December.
Managing partner, Mark Dickson, told White Horse News, “The partners and staff at the White Horse Health Centre along with our PCN partners, The Avenue Surgery in Warminster, were delighted to be able to offer the first series of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Limited by the amount of vaccine we were able to receive and deliver, we had to prioritise our most vulnerable over-80 year-old patients.
“We delivered nearly 1,000 vaccines over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of December. We were delighted that a great proportion of the patients that were called were able to attend the White Horse Health Centre at very late notice to receive the vaccine. The day went very well, with no adverse reactions to the vaccine. The staff worked tirelessly to organise the clinic at very short notice and under extremely difficult and unfamiliar circumstances and we are very proud of their effort and commitment.”
Patients will be contacted by the NHS when it is their turn to receive the vaccine. Priority is being given to those patients considered to be vulnerable. Patients are asked not to contact their GP practice, local hospital, or other local NHS services.
