BITHAM Brook Primary School recently had a special visit from Olympic bronze medallist, Laura Deas, who helped raise £4,000 towards new sports equipment for the school via a sponsored fitness circuit.
Laura also held an assembly where she aimed to inspire pupils to discover and pursue their passions in life.
Laura, who picked up a bronze medal in the women’s skeleton in the 2018 Winter Olympics, was the first Welsh woman to win a Winter Olympic medal.
The school says, “We were thrilled to welcome Laura to the school! Laura hosted an assembly for the children with the aim of inspiring the children to be more physically active, but just as importantly, encourage them to discover and pursue their passion in life. She even bought along her Olympic medal for the children to have a look at.
“Laura held a sponsored fitness circuit with all of the children, which helped to raise an incredible £4,000 for new sports equipment for the school. The children all had a brilliant time and showed great enthusiasm and determination. As always, we as a school are incredibly proud and grateful for the support shown by our wonderful Bitham Brook school community.”
