See London as you never have before by taking part in the London-Surrey charity cycle challenge this August – and help raise money for Dorothy House.
The route, which was made famous by the 2012 London Olympics, will start in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, follow 100 miles of closed roads through the capital and into the picturesque countryside of Surrey, finishing on The Mall in central London.
By taking part you will have the unforgettable experience of riding side-by-side with over 20,000 other seasoned and novice cyclists from across the country. The ride is perfect for cyclist of all levels who are confident when cycling in large groups and able to complete 100 miles.
Dorothy House Hospice Care has a limited number of charity places, and the organisers reported, “If you failed to secure a place in the ballot, don’t worry, we have been lucky enough to secure nine places for this event. All we ask is that you raise a minimum sponsorship of £600. You will be required to pay a £50 registration fee to secure your place and these will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Whether you are a slower rider who fancies the challenge, or a faster rider who will relish the opportunity to ride alongside the country’s top amateurs, this event will be a spectacular experience for everyone taking part. Both men and women can participate, the only stipulations are that you must be over 18, have your own roadworthy bike and can finish the race within nine hours.
“As you peddle for us, our event team at the Hospice is here to support you all the way by offering lots of fundraising support, information about getting sponsorships, a vest/t-shirt, and sponsorships forms! We are passionate about the care we are able to offer the people of our region but our work would not be possible without the enthusiasm of people like you grabbing the handlebars with both hands and showing the asphalt what you are made of!
“We could go on and on – like the pedals on a bike – but we rather hope that by now your legs are itching for the challenge to take on the capital and support your local hospice.
“If you would like a place and would like to support Dorothy House then contact Emily Knight on 01225 721480 or by email emily.knight@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk. The deadline for registrations is Friday 1st May so make sure you don’t get left in the dust.”
