FOLLOWING months of discussions about the role and constitution of community organisation Open Westbury, councillors crystallised the concept at their annual meeting last week.
A working party was previously formed to clarify the membership and role of Open Westbury after members raised questions.
After the annual meeting, town clerk Deborah Urch told White Horse News, “Open Westbury was established from the council’s desire for improving public engagement, to set up a network of organisations who work to support the community and the emerging needs of vulnerable individuals and families as the country entered into the first national lockdown in March 2020.
“The council has clarified its role in the Open Westbury terms of reference, a document which aims to ensure that people can be heard, volunteer and seek help and can be signposted to appropriate help in the town
“Open Westbury will be reviewed in six months to understand the impact it is having in the community and council resources.”
