Grassacres Hall in Westbury was the packed venue for an information session with a difference on Wednesday 22nd July.
Older people got the chance to tell their personal story and find out about what’s available to them in terms of services and technology to help them live at home, maintaining their independence as long as possible.
The event, organised by Westbury Area Board and the BA13 Community Area Partnership, proved a success with a wide range of stalls and advice on offer, from the Bobby Van offering advice on keeping safe, through to the White Horse health centre, offering blood pressure checks and health trainers giving a range of wellbeing help and information.
The drop in session which ran from 2.00pm to 6.00pm attracted many people who also got the chance to sit down with Wiltshire Council staff, enjoy tea and cake, and to discuss what services and facilities are needed for older people in the area.
Other stallholders included Alzheimer’s Support, Healthwatch, Wiltshire Fire, Dorothy House, Link, U3A, Westbury Library, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Age UK.
