WESTBURY Leigh Primary School welcomed plenty of stars to their many events held over the last few weeks.
Marguerite Wilson, office manager at the school reports, “Superstar mums enjoyed a superb Mother’s Day lunch in the Love Leigh Diner, thanks to catering manager, Helen Plows, and her amazing team.
“The book fair proved as popular as ever, with children choosing new books from the large selection of their favourite authors, with the added bonus of a book week discount voucher to spend, much to the delight of mums and dads.
“To celebrate our Artsmark Silver Award, we have a combined Art and inaugural Flower Festival. Children were eager to showcase their artwork to their families which is displayed in our gallery for all visitors to the school to enjoy.
“Artwork consists of paintings and bouquets of “exotic” paper flowers displayed, along with pots full of vibrant fresh daffodils. Music also featured in our celebrations. Our talented year 6 pupils used the Edgar Allan Poe poem, The Raven, as inspiration to compose lyrics and music, supported by a guest music specialist and performed during morning assembly.
“The school was very excited when many stars of screen, stage and print joined us for World Book Day – Harry Potter, The Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins and the Cat in The Hat, to name but a few, all wearing their iconic (and creative) costumes.
“To end this busy schedule, and to start our Easter celebrations, we had some very special four-legged visitors in on Friday 9th March. Two donkeys, and some of their friends from the church, shared their Easter story with all classes.”
