WESTBURY Leigh Primary School recently held an art day which saw all its students work together to create a piece of pebble artwork for the school’s front entrance.
Mrs Porter, arts co-ordinator, tasked each child with designing and painting their own pebble, and all classes were mixed for the day so the older children could assist the younger ones.
School spokesperson Naomi Lawrence said, “The older children worked so well with the younger ones and really cared for them.
“The inspiration for the artwork was the book ‘Only One You’ by Linda Kranz. The story supports our school values as we have a responsibility to be who we want to be and show respect for those that are different to us.
“The children really enjoyed the day; creating each pebble so that they were individual and unique – just like each one and every one of the children at our school!
“The year two children worked with a local artist, Jennie Quigley, to create a mural for the wall to set the scene for our pebbles. It was an event that the school thoroughly enjoyed and we can’t wait for next year’s event!”
